To celebrate Juneteenth, the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States, Facebook added an animation of raised fists breaking chains to the top of their website in place of their logo.
At first I wondered if everyone had it, or if Facebook only put it on pages that they knew by the Almighty Facebook Algorithm it wouldn’t totally tick off.
So, I decided to ask Twitter.
It appears that Facebook put it out there for everyone (good) but some people’s little fragile feelings got hurt. To quote my friend Shannon: ”How fragile does your sense of self have to be to be threatened by support of someone else??”.
Pretty freaking fragile.
Here’s a sample of the Tweets…
Grow up, America.
HAPPY JUNETEENTH!!!!!!!
